The Beacon Health Group Partnership operates over three sites, Danbury Medical Centre based in Danbury, Mountbatten House Surgery based in North Springfield and Moulsham Lodge Surgery based in central Chelmsford.

Mountbatten House Surgery Update

As part of the local NHS response to the global COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreak, a specialist clinic for people with respiratory problems that might be linked to the virus is needed in mid Essex. This will allow potentially infected people to be seen, diagnosed and treated away from others.

To support this, The Beacon Health Group has offered our Mountbatten House premises in Montgomery Road, Springfield, for the clinic. It will change use from today, Wednesday 25th March 2020.

This means we must unfortunately ask people who need to be seen face-to-face to travel to one of our other centres, mostly Danbury Medical Centre. Many living around Mountbatten House already do this for routine care.

We do apologise for any inconvenience this causes and the short notice of this announcement, but events are moving very fast. As we hope you can appreciate, we want to do our part to help slow the spread of coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding at this very this difficult time for everyone.

Surgery Update

The Beacon Health Group is OPEN and accepting new patients. 

We have changed the way we are working to allow us to stay operational and effective during the Coronavirus outbreak. 

Please be advised our phone lines are very busy at this time due to less footfall at the Surgery.

Appointments (Danbury)

Please contact the Surgery by telephone to make an appointment.  Do NOT come to the Surgery.  Most appointments will be telephone or video consultations in the first instance.  If you need to be seen you will be invited to attend the Surgery.  Please follow the signs to the GREEN door if you have an appointment

Appointments (Moulsham Lodge Surgery)

Please contact the Surgery by telephone to make an appointment.  Do NOT come to the Surgery.  Most appointments will be telephone or video consultations in the first instance.  If you need to be seen you will be invited to attend the Surgery.   Please follow signs to Reception if you have an appointment

Emergency Appointments (Danbury only)

If you have been asked to attend the Surgery this will be at Danbury Medical Centre to be seen by the Emergency Care Team, please follow signs to the RED door

Please do not come to the surgery to collect anything other than medication.  If you have letters, blood forms, medical certificates to collect then please call the surgery and arrangements will be made

Dispensary (Danbury only)

The Dispensary is OPEN and medication can be collected. 

Due to the demand on the Dispensary during this time we have changed our opening times to collect medication.  The times for collection are:  Monday to Friday 9am - 1pm and 3pm - 5pm.

Could we please ask where possible that you allow 72 hours instead of the usual 48 hours for collection of prescriptions and medication.

Please use card payment only.

Urine and other samples can be dropped in at the YELLOW door if they have been requested by a Clinician.

Dispensary Update

We are asking for patients to refrain from requesting inhalers, these will only be issued if it is for routine care or clinically necessary.  If you feel you still need an inhaler and do not fall into this criteria you will put on to the telephone triage list to speak to a clinician.

We are working with volunteers that will be helping to collect medication for patients that are in isolation. We will update the website as soon as we have the information and contact details.

Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)

The NHS in Essex and Public Health England (PHE) are well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal. 

The Chief Medical Officer has announced that the country is moving into the ‘Delay’ stage of the response to coronavirus from Friday, 13th March 2020.

The new advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer is as follows:

Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

  • a high temperature
  • a new continuous cough

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

  • you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
  • your condition gets worse
  • your symptoms do not get better after 7 days

Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
